Governments and regulators from Europe to Asia have condemned reports X’s AI chatbot Grok was creating sexualised images of people, including children

Elon Musk blamed critics who "censorship" for growing calls to shut down his Grok AI chatbot over its penchant for deepfake porn and child abuse images.

Elon Musk defended Grok amidst controversy over its generation of obscene images. Countries like Indonesia have banned the chatbot, while US Senators urged Google and Apple to remove it from app stores until safeguards are implemented.

Elon Musk's ‌startup ​xAI has put some restrictions on ‌the image generation function of its Grok chatbot on social media platform X, ​after the tool's use of AI to create and publish sexualized images sparked a widespread backlash.

Elon Musk accused the UK government of being “fascist” after it stepped up threats to block X over sexualized images of women and children produced by his artificial intelligence tool Grok.

It comes after government urged Ofcom to use all its powers – up to and including an effective ban – against X.

Elon Musk’s X is facing a potential boycott from advertisers which have attacked the social media site’s “misogynistic” AI chatbot.

The chatbot had been granting a wave of what researchers say are malicious user requests to modify images, including putting women in bikinis or in sexually explicit positions.
